LEARN MORE ABOUT TRAUMA INFORMED PRACTICES

Meet Kerrie Caleno

She has worked with children for over 15 years after having her own 3 beautiful children. She wanted to be able to help children with their milestones and help them to develop and grow and found it extremely rewarding. Then 7 years ago, she was granted an SGO. She ended up giving up work when becoming a special gradian, so she wound be able to look after the child and make sure she was there for them.

On this journey with them who has complex addition need and has developmental trauma and gone through aces, and the impact it has had on his nervous system has noticed the lack of understanding and support out there for children and their parents/careers who are also going through similar experiences.

She has seen many other families struggle, as people do not understand what our children or them their selves have been or going through, and this has left her feeling deeply passionate about learning more about trauma, generational trauma and what that can look like as well so she can help get the knowledge and understanding out there to the professionals, teachers and parents. She has also seen how difficult it is for children in school settings to cope and need help and extra support.

She has worked in nurseries and previously volunteered in a school and is an empathetic listener to foster carers. This led her wanting to gain more knowledge to be able to help others learn about how trauma can affect people and their mental health and for people to be able to understand themselves, and in turn hopefully this will filter to people around them and down to the children to hopefully break the cycle. She was looking at ways how she could do this, and I found what she was looking for. Kerrie has gained qualifications and has had lived experience's to help with her knowledge to be able to help others.

She follows N.A.T.P and practice therapeutic parenting and P.A.C.E as she understand that we need to take a different approach to help children develop new pathways as their brain's development has changed, but also understand she needs to start with adults to help with the movement of schools and companies and us in ourselves to be able to make a difference, and a change within our communities, and our world, for the future generations to come.
